Translating picture books

Translating picture books

An author/illustrator, Takeshi Murai has published a book, “Tears of Hope” to raise funds for the earthquake victims. And, I did translation for it.

Some of his work can be read at MixPaper. Three of them have been published and I did the translation for all of them. Translating picture books is very difficult as I have to use words and the way to say things so that children can understand them while adults are interested/entertained.
My main work is moving images and web and to think really hard on words is so refreshing.

Anyway, he has decided to participate in “SAVE MIND, 100 CREATION” by Sony Digital Entertainment to raise funds for the earthquake victims and he has asked me to do the translation and obviously I accepted.

This campaign is for mobile phone and his work will be up in May but he has launched the book for PC users. You can read it from here.
Tears of Hope

I just want to thank Takeshi Murai for giving me this oppotunity.
