Free background patterns
I was so busy last week. I’m hoping that things would pick up from now on…
While I was busy and working, I was thinking of patterns.
I’m thinking of using the “web2.0″ look for videos.
It is not very often where we see a use of patterns in a video. I don’t really know why that is but I thought maybe this is an interesting idea.
The thing is though, it is pretty hard to make a pattern.
Strips are all about choosing the right colours, I think, and technically, it’s not very difficult but checks and patterns with shapes are nightmare! To make them work, you need to calculate otherwise the tiled pattern becomes not evenly tiled.
To try things out, I’ve made a few loud pattern. Since I’ve finished experimenting, could someone use these patterns?
Stripes
I’ve made vertical stripes and horizontal ones.
To use one of them for a web background, it should look like this which is not too bad, with semi transparent white background for text area.
In video, stripes look pretty good. On top of that, I could move them across the screen really fast to have some dynamics
Well, that wasn’t the plan in the beginning though.
Check
Somehow, I ended up making tartan checks.
In a video, they look pretty interesting.
You can download them from here（zip,539KB）! There’s 10 different patterns. You can use it however you like it as long as you tell me what you use it for.
